The Main Reasons Your Teen Needs A Mentor

According to the World Health Organization (WHO): “One in seven 10 to 19-year-olds experiences a mental disorder. Depression, anxiety and behavioral disorders are among the leading causes of illness and disability among adolescents. Suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-29 year-olds. The consequences of failing to address adolescent mental health conditions extend to adulthood, impairing both physical and mental health and limiting opportunities to lead fulfilling lives as adults."

It’s time to take action due to these unsettling statistics.

As a parent, you may be overwhelmed by which route to take to help your child. Maybe your child is in therapy, and you feel like they are still stuck, or maybe they simply need assistance with socializing and making friends. Maybe they have struggled with managing their stress, or body image. At Wholesome Bound, I take an all-encompassing approach targeting your child’s lifestyle, environment, diet, physical health, mental and emotional well-being. The power of a mentor is invaluable to the growth of an adolescent. Someone they can count on, trust, and look up to for direction.

My main goal as a Mental Growth Coach is to make sure that no adolescent feels shame for the way they are feeling by providing a safe place to talk about their daily struggles, and also their hopes and dreams. During our sessions, we will assess how other areas of their life (mental, emotional, physical, lifestyle) can be addressed and improved. As a mentor, I will be able to assist in pointing your child in the right direction for their optimal growth.

According to Forbes and the ‘Power of Mentorship’: “A mentor is simply someone who helps us get unstuck, a non-judgmental person who listens with an open mind to help us steer clear of the mistakes they themselves made (and wish they’d had a mentor to help avoid). A mentor helps us accelerate our growth by showing us a clearer path with fewer distractions and obstacles. Think of it this way: When you climb a mountain, you’re thrilled to get to the top — but then quickly look to the next peak and resolve to reach that summit. A mentor helps you scale those upcoming peaks.”
